There’s a kind of strength that often goes unseen in the rare disease community.
The late nights. The research. The appointments. The constant advocacy.
And so often, behind all of it, is a mother quietly carrying more than most people will ever fully understand.
During our Mother’s Day Appreciation Giveaway, hundreds of you shared stories about special moms in your lives. Reading through them left a lasting impact on me.
As a mom myself, I saw so much love, sacrifice, exhaustion, resilience, and hope woven through your words.
These are a few of the stories we wanted to honor.
“My mom never stopped fighting for answers, even when doctors dismissed us over and over again.”
“She carries our entire family emotionally and somehow still makes everyone feel safe.”
“There were nights I know she cried after we went to sleep, but she still got up every morning and kept going.”
“She became a nurse, researcher, advocate, and caregiver all at once — because she had to.”
“I don’t think moms in this community hear ‘thank you’ nearly enough.”
“She never asked for recognition. She just showed up every single day.”
One thing became very clear while reading through these responses:
The moms in this community are extraordinary.
Not because they’re perfect. Not because they never struggle. But because they continue showing up, even in the hardest seasons.
And that kind of love deserves to be seen.
To every mother carrying more than the world realizes:
We see you. We appreciate you. And we are deeply grateful for you.
With love, Kristina
