For the Moms Who Carry So Much 🧡

Happy Mother's Day

By: Kristina Johnston

Over the past few years, through A Race Against Blindness, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many mothers.

Mothers who are strong in ways most people will never fully see.
Mothers who advocate, who show up again and again—no matter how heavy things feel.
Mothers who carry fear, hope, exhaustion, and love… all at the same time.

And I think about you often.

Because I’m one of those mothers too.

Lately, I’ve felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the people who carry so much of this journey.

And so many of them are moms.

It’s easy for that kind of strength to go unseen. The long nights, the constant decisions, the emotional weight—it doesn’t always have a place to be recognized.

But it matters.

So this Mother’s Day, I wanted to do something small.

Not a fundraiser. Not a campaign. Just a simple way to say thank you.

I’ve put together a Mother’s Day gift basket, curated personally, and we’ll be gifting it to one member of this community.  Or, the winner can choose a $500 Target gift card instead.

Anyone is welcome to enter—whether it’s for yourself, or for a mom in your life.

If you feel led, there’s also a space to share a little about a mom who inspires you. I would truly love to read those.

👉 Entry Form

We’ll keep this open through May 10 at 11:59 PM MST, and I’ll follow up shortly after.

More than anything, I just want to say this:

I see you.
I respect you.
And I’m so grateful to be part of a community filled with mothers like you.

With love and so much gratitude,
Kristina, Luke & Tyler's Mum

PS. As a small extra thank you, we’re also offering 10 free entries into any of our active fundraisers using code MOM10 at checkout. Valid thru 5/10/26 at 11:59 PM MST.

  • Mothers give us the greatest gift of all-life.

  • A mother who inspires me would absolutely be my grandmother. She showed me what love meant and how to carry it. She passed down traditions and recipes and dreams. My grandmother brought so much joy to everyone around her, especially me. When I had my daughter she was so proud to call her, her great granddaughter. She raised me and taught me how to raise my daughter ( and now my sons). The lessons I learned, the happiness I gained and the foundation she paved for me have anchored my life to this day. I wish she could see me and my family now. I miss her every day. So Happy Mother’s Day Granny & to all the Mothers that came before me, are here now and even to those who will come after me. Lots of love to all of you!
