Eligibility

Qualified investigators at universities, academic medical centers, nonprofit research institutions, hospitals, biotechnology companies, and mission-aligned organizations may submit eligible research inquiries.

Qualified organizations and research teams

Applications are accepted from both U.S. and international organizations. Applicants should demonstrate the institutional resources and scientific expertise necessary to complete the proposed work.

Projects generally not funded

RAB generally does not support these requests so resources can be directed toward mission-aligned research with a defined objective.

  • Projects unrelated to inherited retinal diseases or Bardet-Biedl Syndrome
  • Student scholarships or tuition assistance
  • Retrospective reimbursement for previously completed work
  • Conference attendance or travel as a standalone request
  • Event sponsorships
  • General operating expenses unrelated to a defined research project
  • Fundraising activities
  • Equipment purchases without a clearly defined research objective
  • Capital campaigns or facility construction
  • Political campaigns or lobbying activities
