For the Moms Who Carry So Much 🧡

Happy Mother's Day

By: Kristina Johnston

Over the past few years, through A Race Against Blindness, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many mothers.

Mothers who are strong in ways most people will never fully see.
Mothers who advocate, who show up again and again—no matter how heavy things feel.
Mothers who carry fear, hope, exhaustion, and love… all at the same time.

And I think about you often.

Because I’m one of those mothers too.

Lately, I’ve felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the people who carry so much of this journey.

And so many of them are moms.

It’s easy for that kind of strength to go unseen. The long nights, the constant decisions, the emotional weight—it doesn’t always have a place to be recognized.

But it matters.

So this Mother’s Day, I wanted to do something small.

Not a fundraiser. Not a campaign. Just a simple way to say thank you.

I’ve put together a Mother’s Day gift basket, curated personally, and we’ll be gifting it to one member of this community.  Or, the winner can choose a $500 Target gift card instead.

Anyone is welcome to enter—whether it’s for yourself, or for a mom in your life.

If you feel led, there’s also a space to share a little about a mom who inspires you. I would truly love to read those.

👉 Entry Form

We’ll keep this open through May 10 at 11:59 PM MST, and I’ll follow up shortly after.

More than anything, I just want to say this:

I see you.
I respect you.
And I’m so grateful to be part of a community filled with mothers like you.

With love and so much gratitude,
Kristina, Luke & Tyler's Mum

PS. As a small extra thank you, we’re also offering 10 free entries into any of our active fundraisers using code MOM10 at checkout. Valid thru 5/10/26 at 11:59 PM MST.

  • Best mom ever !

  • My wife is a wonderful mom of two, and raised two grandchildren. She is super special to me and a wonderful surprise to her.

  • I lost my mom in March, she was blind, from birth, she also had dementia, that is what are suffered with till the day she passed. It was difficult for her.
We were 4 girls and 3 boys growing up and she did it all. She has lots of help from the commission from the blind and the light house in NYC when she was growing up and in school. So she learned skills.
She taught us to crochet, knit, sew on a sewing machine make ceramics using a kiln, cook, many more things. All while being a blind person herself. I will miss her. Keep doing the good work that you do. It is much appreciated.

  • This weekend is our 28th anniversary and mother’s day. My wife had one goal in life, to be a mother. After having our daughter premature and 4 miscarriages most people would give up, but not her. Now we have adopted another 4 children and know God worked everything out for us. I could never be prouder of anyone.
