Our Commitment to Transparency — How to Verify Us

At A Race Against Blindness, transparency isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we practice every day.

We believe that anyone considering supporting our mission should be able to independently confirm our nonprofit status, see where our funding goes, and understand how we operate.

Here’s how you can verify our organization for yourself.

1. Check Our IRS-Verified 501(c)(3) Status

We are a registered, IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. You can look us up anytime on the official IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search:

EIN: 92-2174042

This listing confirms our active nonprofit status, which is required to receive tax-deductible donations.

2. View Our Profile on Candid (Guidestar)

We’re proud to hold the Platinum Seal of Transparency — the highest level awarded by Candid. This recognition reflects our commitment to openly sharing our mission, impact, leadership, and financial information.

3. See Our Annual Reports

We publish detailed annual reports that outline:

  • Total funds raised

  • Allocation of funds to prizes, operations, and mission-related grants

  • Research projects funded

  • Major milestones from the year

You can read them here:

4. Understand Our Charity Navigator Status

We’re listed on Charity Navigator and currently not rated only because we are a new nonprofit — they require three consecutive years of IRS Form 990s before issuing a score.

From our Charity Navigator profile:

“A Race Against Blindness cannot currently be evaluated… Before Charity Navigator can evaluate A Race Against Blindness, [we] will need to e-file for additional fiscal years.”

We have completed our first year of IRS filings and will become eligible for rating after we submit our 2024 and 2025 returns, due in November 2025 and 2026 respectively.

5. Contact Us Anytime
